Synopsis

In London; a popular boy with a well known reputation as a 'ladies man', has his whole life already laid out for him, until his life is turned upside down. Nathan is the captain of the rugby team which hides the fact his grades are far from perfect. His father insists he gets help with his schoolwork otherwise his rugby scholarship will be in jeopardy. Little does he know that his tutor will change his whole life. Holly, the quiet, shy girl who's isolated herself from the dramas of college life. Although many people may see Holly as being the school nerd she proves them all wrong when the college 'bad-boy' falls hopelessly in love with her.

Questionnaire Analysis

We did a questionnaire on our genre of romantic comedy. We did the questionnaire to find about what our target audience expect to see in the opening of a romantic comedy. Doing a questionnaire helped us a lot because we knew excatly what we need to have in the opening sequence to attract our target audience. We gave out the questionnaire to people aged 16-18 to fill it out. 

We found out that everyone wanted to see introduction of the main characters in the opening scene. Most people said that music grabs their attention in the opening scence so we have take our time and find a perfect music for our opening. We also found out that most people wanted to see the title in handwritten font or block/bubble font.

Code and Conventions

Romantic comedies are light-hearted humorous movies centered around romantic ideas such as 'true love' and 'the perfect life'. The code and conventions of Romantic Comedy are that a man and a women meet and then maybe due to argument or other reason they will break up. Two people believe they do not like eachother but the director will leave obvious clues to show that both of them are attracted to each other or that they would make a good couple. While they both are separated, one or both will realise that they are in love with the other person. Then either one or both puts effort to find the other person and declare their love or they may even meet accidently. After some arguments and awkwardness, they will be back together and the film ends happily.

Our story goes with the code and convenction of romantic comedy because we have a man and a women as the main characters. They both fall in love when they meet at school and then they break up after an argument and finally at the end they both get back together because they realise they totally in love with each other.

Meeting 4- Props and Location List

In our second meeting we sorted out out props and location list. We went through scene by scene and deciding what we need to get our opening sequence done. For the main female girl we needed slippers, analogue clock, glasses, Cereal, towel, poster, book, bike and for the boy we need digital clock, apple, body spray and  a car. We need two different bedroom with shower for the boy and girl as we need to record them getting ready, we need a kitchen so that we can get the female character eating breakfast in their. We need to to record scene of both characters traveling to school so we need the location of the road and we also need school so we can show the characters meeting. We now need to get permission so that we will be able to record in the location we decided to and find all the props we need.
